Description

The eccentricity of the Renoir rattan chair by designer Philippe Model stands out from the classic furniture by Maison Louis Drucker, which has already produced a wealth of original models since its creation in 1885. The frame is made of rattan, in this case light rattan or Manila rattan. The seat is made of wood, but covered in weave only in the center, leaving two wooden margins exposed, like a parenthesis highlighting the weave and the colors. The top of the backrest, a new feature, is in elegantly curved wood. The weave is very special: side by side, the 20 colors of satin-finish synthetic fiber run like a thousand stripes from the top of the back to the edge of the seat, with regular jacquard stitches. The other originality, and this is Philippe Model’s ‘signature’, is the profusion of colors – 20 different colors for this chair. Curiously, and this is Philippe Model’s talent, the feeling is to seem a single sparkling color.

Furniture with a rattan structure is classified as “semi-outdoor,” meaning it can be placed outdoors under a shelter that strictly protects it from rain, except near bodies of water (seas, lakes, rivers). For these areas and for full outdoor use, we recommend our “outdoor” ranges with an aluminum or galvanized steel structure.

What is the difference between the choices of finish (elegance, tradition and heavy duty) proposed by Maison Louis Drucker?

Weaving of the seat can be stopped under the seat (elegance), on the side of the seat with a rattan border (traditional) or on the side of the seat with the plastic border (heavy duty)

Is there a difference in quality between the dark rattan (Malacca) and the light rattan (Manila)?

No, the color of the rattan has no influence on its quality. The dark rattan (called Malacca) is the traditional rattan for Parisian terraces.

Is it possible to change the seat height of a chair?

Yes. the standard seat height of 45cm can be lowered down to 38cm or up to 90cm to create a high chair.
